Online Contemporary Rug Weaving with KCTAC

  • Aneesa Shami Studio 3440 Motor Avenue Los Angeles, CA, 90034 United States (map)

Learn how to make a knotted rug weaving with yarn and upcycled textiles. This workshop is inspired by the long history of rug making in many cultures, focusing on the methodical experience of knotting as a tactile way to explore color theory. Play with different fibers, colors and textures to create a small rug and learn the basics of weaving. All levels of experience are welcome.

Materials needed:

  • Warp yarn (I prefer to use crochet cotton or cotton rug yarn)

  • Weft yarn (600+ grams of yarn, 1⁄2 yd of fabric in strips for a 12” x 12” weaving in multiple

colors/textures/fibers)

  • Sharp scissors

Class Fee: Suggest $40 - Pay What You Can - $30 - $40 - $50
